Get Involved!
Here's How You Can Participate…
Be a team member.
Kairos volunteers come from all walks and strata of life. They all share a desire to follow Christ’s admonition of Matthew 25:36, “I was in prison and you visited me.” If you feel God’s call to minister to the incarcerated as a part of a Kairos team, contact the State Chairperson to inquire about how you can get involved, or contact the Kairos national office to find out about qualification and training and to be put in touch with the local Kairos community. This is the ultimate participation in a Kairos team. Men, for male prisons, and women, for female prisons, enter the institution and by "Listen, Listen, Love, Love" become the tools of the Holy Spirit and help the residents experience the love of God. It is an awesome experience. Inside team members should have completed a Four-Day weekend such as Cursillo, Koinonia, or Walk to Emmaus to be eligible to enter the prison. They must be badged as a volunteer by the institution and attend the team formation meetings. If you are interested, contact us.
Be a Prayer Partner.
All Kairos activities are covered with prayer. You can be a part of that prayer effort. Contact us!
Be a Support Volunteer.
Each Kairos retreat weekend has opportunities for outside support, such as baking cookies, writing letters of support, or preparing meals.
Cookies
We need at least 100 dozen cookies every weekend. At some institutions home-made cookies are needed and at other facilities the cookies must be store bought/packaged cookies.
Everyone in the prison gets at least two dozen Kairos cookies when we are there. It is a Kairos trademark that lets everyone know we are there to Listen, Listen, Love, Love. We have special recipes to follow and encourage anyone to help. The recipes are available via the web. When baking homemade cookies please make sure the dough has no nuts or fruit.
Agape Letters
As part of the Kairos Four-Day weekend, the residents are allowed to receive letters. Many times these will be the only mail a resident has ever received while being incarcerated. The letters should be signed with the first name only and we will give them to them. The letters are sacked in special bags and given to them.
Kitchen
Some facilities allow home cooked meals for all the residents experiencing the weekend, for security staff, and for the Kairos volunteers. If cooking is your thing, contact us. We can use your help.
Be a Ministry Financial Booster.
All Kairos activities are funded by donations. If you would like to support this ministry by a financial donation, please follow the steps below. It requires about $125 per resident to conduct a Four-Day weekend.
To make a donation via the U.S. Mail, please send to:
